
Useless But Important Information!
This will help you understand our Parrothead World!
Beach Cleanups: at least once a quarter the club goes to a local beach (set up by our
Environmental Chair and the organization – usually the county) and spend a couple
hours cleaning it up, and then we celebrate with a BBQ or by meeting at a local
watering hole.
Birthday Bash: we were “Born” in 1996, and every year we hold a weekend-long
Birthday Bash, in May or June, with the proceeds going to our environmental
charities. Held at a hotel, there is poolside music all day and a big dance party at
night, and lots of games, contests, raffles, and merriment. The party of the year!
BYOB/BYOE: Bring your own booze/ EVERYTHING (cooler, chair, food, etc)
Conga Line: A must at every PHlocking, especially when we initiate new members.
We have our own way of conga line-ing. Watch and learn!
Facebook: Our official page is www.facebook.com/SarasotaBayPHC and we have a
private members-only group that we will invite you to upon your membership being
accepted.
Fifty-fifty / Heads and Tails: A raffle with a cash prize. The winner gets 50% of the money we collect,
and the other half goes to the club for our charities. Sometimes we play Heads and Tails which is an interactive 50/50 fundraiser!
Grassy Knoll: An area at Sarasota Bayfront where we PHLock and tailgate prior to our
LeBarge cruises.
Happy Hour: Sometimes held on “Thirsty Thursdays” or going out to see our favorite local performers, this is a casual gathering held once, twice, or several times a month.
Island Jay: The vendor for most of our merchandise!

LeBarge: a party boat that we take over for a sunset cruise annually depending on
cost, see “grassy knoll” where we tailgate prior.
Loser: an affectionate way of getting raffles over quickly. If you don’t hear your
ticket number being called within a reasonable amount of time, we say “…going
once, going twice…LOSER” with our fingers and our thumbs in the shape of an L on
our forehead.
MOTM/Meeting of the Minds: An annual convention held in Gulf Shores, Alabama
the last week in October every year. Parrot Heads from all over come to network,
learn about other clubs, make PHriends, and party party party!! www.MOTM.rocks
MOTB/Music on the Bay: An annual event presented by the Tampa PHC, that we
support every year with raffle baskets and volunteers. First weekend in March.

Not-Bored of Directors: An affectionate term for our Board of Directors. The Board meets every month and roughly other month, sometimes monthly with the club to discuss upcoming events. With advance notice, all meetings are open to our members to attend.
Parrot-fin-alia: our online store with current merchandise that we sell directly to our
members. You must be affiliated with PHiP in order to purchase ANY products with
Parrot Head logos!
PHiP/Parrot Heads in Paradise: Our parent organization! www.phip.com
Parrot Head Island: Little Edwards Island south of Siesta Drive. The county
discontinued the program but we still go out there and clean the beaches!
Parrot Heads for Patti: Our Alzheimer’s team, named for Patti Myles, a former VP and
first lady who fought for many years with this horrible disease. Every year we add
more names of PHolks we walk for. Please join us!
Party with a Purpose! Our motto.
Phlocking: a gathering of Parrot Heads. Our official Phlockings will be announced as a club social. Visit our website or Facebook page for more information!
Raft-Ups: Currently known as Parrot Head Beach Parties, when the club had many
boaters we’d meet once a month from April to October for a fun day in the sun. When
the club has very few boaters, we meet at South Lido Park and hang on the beach.
People that have boats and jet skis are encouraged to bring them. BYOE
Reef Innovations: The company that manufactures and deploys the Reef Balls,
specially designed concrete artificial reefs. They also have “Eternal Reefs” to not only provide a final resting place for your loved ones, but help the environment by rebuilding our reef system.

Tuesday on the Island: The 3rd Tuesday of the month during Daylight Saving Time, a
casual BYOE event where we get together at Siesta Key Public Beach and watch
Mother Nature’s miracle, the sun setting over the Gulf of Mexico. We’re lucky and we
know it!
What time is it?: When our official team drink caller is in the house you’ll hear him
without a microphone, but whenever anyone yells out “HEY Sarasota Bay Parrot
Head Club, what time is it?” The answer is “It’s TIME for a TEAM DRINK! Wooooo
