Since 1996, the Sarasota Bay Parrot Head Club has been the premier social and charitable organization for those who appreciate the spirit of Jimmy Buffett. We're more than just a club; we're a phlock of friends dedicated to leaving the world a little better than we found it.
Based in Sarasota and Manatee counties, we provide a community for like-minded individuals to gather, celebrate, and give back.

Years in Paradise
What is a Parrothead?
One of Jimmy Buffett’s former Coral Reefer Band members, Timothy B. Schmit (of Eagles fame!) coined the term “Parrot Head” at the Timberwolf Amphitheater concert in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 28, 1985. Jimmy Buffett noticed that an overwhelming amount of concertgoers were wearing tropical clothing, dancing and wearing parrots on their heads and it reminded him of the “dead Heads.” Timothy said no, more like “parrot heads.”
The first club was started by Scott Nickerson in Atlanta in 1989 and has grown to over 200 clubs around the U.S. and international.
We Are the People Our Parents Warned Us About!
Parrot Heads in Paradise, Inc. oversees the international network of Parrot Head charters as a humanitarian group sharing information and social activities. The organization engages in activities that are charitable, environmental, educational and promotes the general welfare of the community by providing a variety of social activities for people who are interested in the music of Jimmy Buffett and the tropical lifestyle he personifies.
The Sarasota Bay Parrot Head Club serves the greater Sarasota and Manatee county area. We welcome you to come see what we are about!

Volunteer Opportunities
Living in paradise sometimes requires helping to protect and preserve it! We do this by cleaning up beaches, painting stakes to mark sea turtle nests, and working with a local organization that creates artificial reefs!
Charity Events
Giving back is important to us! Therefore, we have adopted several local and National Charities to benefit, especially those near and dear to Jimmy Buffett. These include: Singing for Change, Alzheimer’s Association, Save the Manatee, Save our Seabirds, Big Cat Habitat, Eternal Reef Foundation, Safe Place 2B, Toys for Tots, and area food banks and pet shelters.
Monthly Socials
We are a social bunch and like our happy hours and phlockings! They usually revolve around live music, local musicians, house concerts, and sometimes just getting together to watch our beautiful sunsets!
